Bumble Bee recalling tuna cans over loose seals

Bumble Bee Foods LLC is recalling some of its 5-ounce canned tuna because of a risk the fish could spoil.

The company said Wednesday that some cans' seals may not be tight enough. Loose seals could let in pathogens and spoil the tuna, sickening an eater.

There have been no reports so far of any related illnesses.

The cans were distributed to retailers across the country between Jan. 17 and Feb. 28 and have "best by" rates that range from Jan. 16, 2016 through Jan. 18, 2016.

The products subject to the recall include Bumble Bee brand and Brunswick brand 5-ounce cans of chunk white albacore in water and chunk light tuna in water and vegetable oil.

Consumers who think they may have purchased one of the recalled products can contact Bumble Bee to get their money back and throw away the canned tuna.

Bumble Bee is privately held and based in San Diego.

Has the new Arrested Development season been released yet?

No. They're working on it now and it will be released on NetFlix in May.

Unless the whole thing is a gag, set up by the last lines of the show, and we're all suckers for believing it.

Great catch,. by the way. The second I saw the headline I could see the clip of someone standing on the beach shouting "watch out for loose seal' and Buster shouting back 'I don't care about Lucille" I had to check out the comments for an AR reference.

They msut be tiny seals, maybe nanoseals. Or, maybe the bumble bees bungled it and forget to seal the deal.

I don't care what size the seals are! I just don't think it appropriate for the seals to be whoring themselves out like this. Loose seals are bringing the moral fiber of the ocean to new depths!

They're being recalled because of a report where a loose seal bit off a customer's hand (Google Buster Bluth).

This is why you gotta keep clubbing the little baby seals.

Cause once those little bastards get loose they start getting into EVERYTHING and before long you've got real problems.

Right now it's just the tuna supply. But next it could be our Doritos or beef jerky.
