During treatment for breast cancer for 4 years (Tamoxifen), I was diagnosed with bone mets. Further testing showed that I had 4 broken ribs, a broken wrist and toe in 6 months time instead of further cancer. I had such low vitamin D levels that I was immediately put on 2000 mg of vitamin D (I was diagnosed with the adult equivalent of rickets). After stopping Tamoxifen (I was in my late 40s) and taking this large dose of D, I was back to normal in 6 months and have not had a broken bone since then. I. therefore, can say I disagree with this study.
if women stop eating animal protein which causes acidity in the body, the body will not steal the calcium from the bones to buffer the acid. Read "Eat To Live".
That's because they've been saying "take 200 IU a day". Well, 200 IU is PITIFUL. I take 4000.
Over 1400 iu/day has been strongly implicated in increasing death rates from heart disease due to calcium deposition in arterial walls.
