Albertsons recalls ground beef in 3 states

By Associated Press staff
BOISE, Idaho -- Alberstons is recalling a number of ground beef products sold at stores in Oregon, Washington and Idaho, due to risk of E. coli contamination. No illnesses have been reported.

The grocery chain, owned by Supervalu Inc., said the move follows an expanded recall by XL Foods Inc. for ground beef products imported from Canada.

The recall includes 1 lb. fresh ground beef patties, 1 lb. fresh ground beef chub, and 3 lb. fresh ground beef chub, all with the Albertsons store label. The products were sold between Sept. 3 and Sept. 21 in all Albertsons stores in Washington and Oregon, as well as three stores in Northern Idaho: Coeur d'Alene, Hayden and Lewiston.

Customers should return any of the recalled products for a refund or replacement.

I love ground beef but it doesn't love me.

Albertsons stores in Colorado smell. Seriously, you walk in the door and the smell is terrible. They were not that way originally. Could also explain why they are slowly but surely leaving the state. Good thing we have Trader Joes moving in...lol

This is another instance that saying thanks for FDA and also saying thanks for Albertsons' compliance and quick responses.

One of the vital reasons, programs cannot be cut, such as FDA, NOAA, by our Congress. Our taxes have the purposes of such as these. The rich Americans cannot just walk off their responsibilities to pay tax, saving their income to some foreign banks, and they pass the button to the 98%, middle and poor classes.

Regarding Albertson's quick response, you will note that this was ground beef and the recall period was between 9Sep and 21Sep with the recall warning coming 24Sep well past the shelf life of the ground beef. This 'warning' was nothing but a corporate ass cover just in case anyone actually got sick but well after the entire stock had been passed on to customers. It would be interesting to know if Albertsons had any ground beef 'specials' toward the end of this period to dump the stuff before having to declare the recall.
