This is not news and it is not an emerging field. It's been studied for a long time and is known science. The only reason we don't hear more about it is because the experts aware of this phenomenon pretty much universally agree that it does no good to raise awareness. It isn't just blue light from TVs and computers causing the problem; it's light at night, period. This has been a problem since the advent of electric lighting. And what are people going to do, give up electric lights? No way. So what's the point in being alarmist? No one will listen anyhow.
If you're really worried, the answer's obvious. If you just can't give up the lights late at night, there are special sunglasses you can wear, and then make sure that when you go to bed it is in an absolutely dark room with blackout shades on the windows and no nightlights or digital lights anywhere. Which, again, most of us won't bother with. So, aside from the atrocious proofreading, this story's kind of pointless.
Please, can't we do something about the ultra bright headlights being put on cars these days? Cars driving in the opposite direction at night blind me all of the time. There is no way these super bright lights are making our roads safer.
Why do they always have to say "may increase your risk of cancer?" Might as well board yourself up in your house to be safe, but oh wait, that might increase your risk of cancer too. Next thing they'll tell you is breathing air at 5:00 p.m. while it's exactly 77° outside can increase your risk of cancer.
I have always thought that light and noise effect sleep like mad. I am addicted to falling asleep with the TV. I cannot listen to music, no matter how slow, my body wants to dance and it is very stimulating to me, yet I have heard it suggested to listen to soothing music to fall asleep instead. Either way. When there is a power outage or I cannot have a TV, I sleep much better and know I do, so God help with my addiction to the boob tube!
