Reports that a Mexican woman is pregnant with nine babies are not true, according to El Diario de Coahuila, the local newspaper in the town were the woman lives.
Mexican television stations aired interviews with Karla Vanessa Perez of the northeastern state of Coahuila, which borders Texas, where she claimed fertility treatments led to this multiple pregnancy and also that she already had triplets.
The story was widely reported by various media outlets, including msnbc.com.
But when reporters from the Mexican newspaper investigated, they learned she’s actually not pregnant at all. Her mother, Francisca Castañeda, told El Diario de Coahuila that Perez has three children, ages 15, 12 and 4 and after the last was born, had an operation to prevent her from getting pregnant again.
David Vila, a reporter with Telemundo, also contacted the office of Mexico’s Secretary of Health, which confirmed she wasn't pregnant. The office had initially reached out to her to offer to help.
José Salvador Gallegos Mata, a member of the Mexican Society of Gynecology and Urology told the newspaper that someone who would make such false claims “needs to urgently say ‘I’m here. Please look at me, I exist.'” He added, “That woman needs urgent psychological treatment.”

She most likely is thinking: Quick sneak me into Texas where they have better health care and the kids will be born US citizens. The US hospital will have to eat the $10,000,000 medical bill for the surgery and for the medical problems with the babies. Then we can collect disability for the rest of our lives.
Exactly what I thought and that is sad........ARGHH!!!! That doctor should be fined for implanting that many......it's just crazy...
All these insane women like Octomom and now this freak need to have BRAIN implants FIRST and the doctors that so irresponsibly perform these unnecessary procedures should be held financially accountable for such a litter.
I was thinking the same thing... Don't let her across the border no matter what...
If the doctors were held responsible for the 8 or 9 babies maybe they would implant 8 or 9 embros. The doctors should be held accountable. And, the women who allow this to happen must have air for brains. I also agree don't let her into the U.S., would just be 9 more for the taxpayers of this country to take care of.
Guess what octomom you're not news anymore.
Maybe they can get her here to live with octomom...then they ALL can collect freebies from the U.S. taxpayer.
Another poster child for the "choose life" campaign. Well, she chose life, didn't she? heaven forbid she should have let those fertilized eggs go implanted. They are liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife, ya know. /s/
Robbie the Robot --- why would she be thinking that? She is in her native country --- happy. Unlike the US, a nation of carpetbaggers, she actually has a homeland.
You don't actually think the medical costs for having these kids will be ten million dollars, do you? I know hospitals charge a lot but come on. I re-read the article to see where it states that a doctor implanted nine eggs and I don't see that stated. The article does state that she had fertility treatment so I would assume that included the implantation of the eggs. As someone who is looking forward to having this treatment in a few months myself, I know my doctor will not implant more than two. I would be happy with two and I would probably be happy with more but I am not going to purposely implant more than two. I hope she has assistance which is something that apparently Ms. Suleman does not.
I was thinking maybe a MILL myself...thats a lot of money!
Sorry, this is not having a baby this is dropping a litter. She better have money because she's going to need full time help. I just hope there are no complications and she has healthy children.
For the sake of the American economy - watch her closely and DON'T LET HER CROSS THE BORDER.
Yep, Texas's population is going to increase by 10 shortly!
thinking the same here texas here we come
Sadly, as liberal as I am, that was my first thought. I'll have to do penance now.
It could have easily been oral meds that caused ovulation with multiple eggs. If you're doing it unmonitored, it can easily result in multiples because you don't know how many you're creating. Monitoring cost money...and it is sometimes skipped early in the infertility process or to save money.
Please keep in mind that oral drugs like clomid are available in Mexico without a prescription. On that note, she could have been self medicating...and if one pill is good...three would be better.
It will be interesting to see if she did IVF or other forms of infertility treatment.
Octomon costed over $3,000,000 for the surgery and for the care of the eight babies in the hospital. Her babies were relatively healthy and did not required very intensive care for a long time. This woman here have nine babies and will required more intensive care, $10,000,000 would be about right. The chance of her and the babies surviving are much better here in the US than Mexico. I would bet she would want to be in the US rather than in that slump called Mexico.
Nine anchor babies instead of one. Imagine the welfare benefits that will come with that package!
What a nasty thing to say. She obviously already has health care as she was treated by a fertility specialist.
I thought the headline was from the Onion at first. Did she really need in vitro? I've never heard of infertility in a Mexican.
Svenolafso --- and you've proven the point that one's never heard of a smart (or even cultured) American---can't even find afghanistan on a map or america.
very funny
@ ninjacodeman - you know what will happen don't you - she will have complications during birth or the babies will have complications that can only be resolved in a US hospital where naturally we are better educated, equipped and of course clean....to handle such an emergency. Then poof we will have 10 new Texas illegal immigrants to take care of......and because of the bleeding hearts out there we will in no way be able to send her back after the births because for sure either her or one of the babies will die and how would that look?!
Just my 2 Coppers, I am confused by your comment. Why does this woman obviously have health insurance if she has been treated by a fertility specialist? Please tell me what health insurance company pays for fertility treatments because there are several couples I know paying out of pocket for treatments and they would jump at the chance to have treatments covered? I have worked in the healthcare industry for 20 years and have yet to hear of fertility treatments being a benefit under a health insurance plan.
Tiff-564037
FYI, have them move to Massachusetts. The state mandates that insurance companies cover in vitro for up to 6 attempts. And people wonder why health insurance premiums are so high.
It doesn't make sense to me that a responsible physician would administer fertility treatment to a woman that already has 4 children-1 single and triplets. That is BS.
@George-3715504 "why would she be thinking that? She is in her native country --- happy."
Since you seem to know how she feels about living in Mexico, perhaps she should share her opinion with the half-dozen millions of Mexican-born illegal immigrants in the US, given the topic.
"Unlike the US, a nation of carpetbaggers, she actually has a homeland."
Based on what logic? Mexico is a "nation of carpetbaggers" as well. According to Autonomous University of Mexico State, 85% of Mexicans have European ancestry (Mestizo/White). Both states (in their current forms) were established by Europeans. If you consider Mexico to be a homeland for Mexicans, the same should apply for Americans and the US.
http://www.inciid.org/article.php?cat=insurance101&id=258
Here ya go... a list.
Mexico made the move towards universal health care six years ago. They contracted with private insurance companies and ALL health care needs are covered. While some of the poorer areas of Mexico have not enrolled all of their citizens, that is quickly changing. Health insurance is mandated there... either state or private insurance.
Perhaps Octomom's physician moved to Mexico since his license to practice has been revoked in the USA.
The ultimate baby factory. This is not natural.
The thing that really bugs me is that this kind of thing isn't safe for the children. The odds that at least one of them will die is pretty high. The odds that they will be premature with complications is even higher. Don't these women care that having multiples is dangerous to the babies themselves? That there is a good chance these children will suffer physically for the first part of their lives simply because their mother didn't think things through? There is absolutely no good reason for implanting that many embryos at once!
There's 10 more votes for mr o to sway his way!
Thats just disgusting!
Wonder if she is related to the duggars?????
not true it is natural the only thing its done one or two at a time usually.......
Make sure that this woman doe's not pop them out in the USA
I can totally understand the rush to collapse post number one. Their plan to get her into the U.S. was exposed. We should make sure she drops her litter in Mexico.
Maybe it was collapsed because that is not the topic at hand. Is it possible for the extremists to comment on the fact that a woman somewhere is giving birth to a litter of children rather than making up some ridiculous scenerio that was never even suggested?
Actually the Doctor who helped this to happen should be held responsible for the whatever costs
this delivery will cost and the ensuing costs of raising nine children. On the other hand the babies are coming like it or not, it's not their fault they are being born out of greed and the need for notoriety.
They need to be loved and cared for, perhaps they should be put for adoption for those people who want children and can't have them!!
Why would you take a woman's children and put them up for adoption?! They were obviously wanted. And there is nothing to suggest this woman cannot care for them. I do not think that having litters of children is normal, advisable or wise. But if childrearing was reserved for only the "wise," the human race would have died out years ago!
News article on May 21: "Woman gives birth to nine babies in El Paso hospital", no nationality mentioned.
It took humans all of recorded history to add as many people as have been added to the planet just since 1950.
People who have 9 kids are a danger to humankind. Much more dangerous than any "terrorist" who can only take out a few people in his immediate vicinity.
It's completely ridiculous that the first comment on this article was "collapsed by the community" as well as my comment about watching this woman closely and not letting her cross the border. Why does "the community" think the article mentions that this woman lives in 'Coahuila, which borders Texas'?
Oh... I don't know. Because THAT'S where she is?! And as Americans suck at geography, perhaps it was assumed we needed a reference?
Its the NEW thing for hollywood celebrity, having twins.
World Population 1800-2100 (UN)
for all of you talking about this woman "dropping her litter" in the US - Has it occurred to you that this lady is 8 months pregnant with 9 babies at present. How the hell is she supposed to sneak across the border/cross the river to get to a US hospital?
Look, she's got enough money for fertility treatments. She's got enough money to be sitting in a Mexican hospital. She's clearly not the type of person who needs to come to the US. Who knows, maybe she likes Mexico?
Let's focus on the real problem here - a woman is going to have 9 babies. No one, not even the Duggars, can possibly handle that many babies at once. I find it irresponsible and an all around bad idea, but it has nothing to do with immigration.
The ultimate in irresponsibility..... what a fool.
I just read that she had triplets a year ago and also has a four year old son. Why would anyone with four kids already want to get pregnant again?
http://www.medicaldaily.com/news/20120427/9698/mexico-nonuplets-triplets-pregnancy-baby-karla-vanessa-perez.htm
My cousin gave birth to twin about ten years ago and during delivery there were some complication and the hospital bill for just the twins was over a million dollars. The million dollars didn't count the cost that the hospital charged for care for my cousin. The father is full-blooded Native American which made the twins qualify for free medical care so the million dollars was paid for by the federal government. My cousin isn't Native American so her medical care she had to pay for. Who knows what it may cost today to deliver those twins so can you imagine if the same complications happened the cost would be today.
Newsflash! Not everyone in Mexico stays up nights plotting to sneak into the US. Some are actually educated people with financial security and access to healthcare.
She could afford fertility treatments, which implies that she is financially secure and the fact she is already in a hospital that has been able to get her this far with the pregnancy with all babies alive says that she has access to medical care. Why would she try to sneak in here?
Plus, how does a woman who is 8 months pregnant with 9 babies "sneak" anywhere? She is in a hospital, probably on strict bed rest. You really see her trying to out-run border patrol?
I believe that the greek/latin prefix for nine is "nonus," so let's call her "Nonamom."
In fact, by your moronic logic, every state of the Americas is "a nation of carpetbaggers". If you consider Mexico to be a homeland for Mexicans, the same should apply for Americans and the US, as for Canadians and Canada, etc.
This is completely absurd. Her fertility doctor should have his license revoked. This is just completely wrong on so many levels. Huge multiple births like this are extremely dangerous for both the mother and the babies. The odds are very good that one or more of these babies will not survive. The odds are also very good that one or more of them will require a long hospital stay and extensive, read expensive, medical intervention to keep them alive. In addition, with large multiples like this the odds go up considerably that one or more of the babies will suffer from a birth defect.
This woman already has for kids, including infant triplets and a four year old. Is she prepared to support 13 children or is she going to be looking to the government for handouts to support her family. Anyone who willingly does something like this should be denied any government assistance. Government assistance programs were not created to indulge irresponsible people like this. If she can not properly support all of the kids then they should be taken away from her and put up for adoption to parents who can. And as much as I know people will flame me for saying this, I think that US law enforcement should keep careful track of where she is to make sure she does not try and cross the border and have her litter in the US.
She already had four children, yet her doctor implanted her with AT LEAST 9 embryos, probably just did ten to make it even. She should have been implanted with one at a time. Now logically I know that you can go into the uterus and kill embryos so that the others will live. That's what they wanted to do with Kate Gosselin. And she refused. I would imagine this woman with 9 fetuses would say that was murder, so keep them all alive. If any of them live, there will almost certainly be disabilities.
This should be illegal.
What a bunch of haters. How about being more concerned for the welfare of the children. All these docs should have their licenses pulled. It should be illegal to have more than 5 embyros (yes, I know that it is likely that some embryos won't take) implanted. No one can properly care for that many babies and it is bad for the fetuses health. When you have this many babies at once, birth defects are very likely to occur.
how is this woman possibly 36 weeks with 9 babies when even most triplets are born by then?
Glad to hear the story isn't true, although it is aggravating that news outlets are so irresponsible (not checking the facts before they run w/ the story) (this is how urban myths are started). It reminds me of and strengthens the warning, "Don't believe everything you hear - or read."
Why would someone make up a story like this? I am glad to hear it isn't true. I agree with you that you shouldn't believe everything on the Internet.
Did any of you read beyond the headline? The article stated that the woman is not pregnant, cannot be pregnant because when she had her youngest (who is 4) she had complications and cannot teg pregnant.
UPDATED................Pregnant woman DEBUNKED !!!
Hahahaha......this is just like that lady in Maryland saying she had the winning Mega Millions ticket.
Hahahaha......April 28th Fool's Day !!!!!
Holy cow, DIDN'T ANYONE READ THE ARTICLE?! The whole topic of the article was that she was NEVER pregnant at all and made the whole thing up. OMG, we are entering into a total Idiocracy. :-(
Holy cow! Someone on the thread that has no idea that this is not the story that was originally printed when everyone posted! OMG, we are entering into a total idiocracy! ;-)
Most of the comments were made well before the story was debunked. Whenever you see the word "UPDATED" at the top of the story, that is your cue that the story has changed since it was originally posted... and most of the comments were made on the original story.
God Love this woman. I never even wanted one. I hope she can afford to feed them. Good Luck Lady
Hi Brooke - sorry this is not about the subject matter. I grew up in Ft lauderdale, a grad of Stranahan High School, living in Alabama. I just wanted to say hi.
Hi Brooke. I didnt grow up in Ft. Lauderdale but I did attend a Florida Univerisity for an undergrad degree. Just wanted to say hi.
Hi Brooke, I didnt grow up in Ft Lauderdale, have never visited Ft Lauderdale and didnt attend any school in the Florida panhandle. But I DO have a cousin that lives in Ft Lauderdale. Just wanted to say hi. . . .
She won't have to worry about taking care of them, because they can be US citizens! So we get to feed another illegal's kids !!!
@Bill-3684867 She pregnant with NINE babies no matter how close she is to Texas do you really think she'd be able to get into the US with no one noticing? Use your head. Not only is there a big chance she can't move well on her own (the babies are due next month) but doctors are monitoring her nonstop due to her condition. Those babies will be born in Mexico, NOT the US.
Simple logic is all it took to figure this one out....
Hi Brooke:
Lived in Ft. Launderdale, now in Canada, just wanted to say Hi.
@Tima the Mexican govenment and the stat of Coahuila will find a way to get her in so THEY do not have to support her and those 9 kids.
Hello
To all my new friends
@BobW-3215303 I don't believe that. Not everyone in Mexico wants to have their baby or babies in the US. If they wanted to get her into the US it would have been done BEFORE she got this far along in her pregnancy. Moving her now will put her and the babies in even more danger.
She went to a Mexican hospital for a reason.... To have her babies there.
Tima 3.5
I wouldn't at all be surprised to soon read she showed up in a Texas hospital just prior to dropping her litter. No one noticing? There are millions of illegals here that just walked in without anyone taking any particular notices.
No, she's being monitored. I'm guessing that she is on strict bedrest. Moving her without medical would be risking her babies and her life. While she is due next month, it isn't a 40 week due date. For example, the due date for twins is routinely 37 weeks. Triplets it is 34-35 weeks. My guess it that they are hoping to get the babies to viability next month...so maybe 32 weeks or even earlier. Multiples often don't develop as quickly as singletons because of the shared resources. I don't think that the babies would fare well if they were born next week.
If she winds up in the US, it will be because a US hospital wants the media attention of delivering the babies.
Reading the discussions I have to add my 2 cents having worked at a hospital for over 10 years now. Mexican women do cross the border to have their babies in the US regardless of the danger because they go to a US hospital. I remember one woman who came in our hospital ready to pop out her twins. She spoke with a lisp. She was on state assistance. 3 years later she came back in to have another baby, under a different name, with 3, yes 3 different medi-cal cards presented to me from her relatives. I never let on I had already received a medi-cal card from her. So as a supervisor, I sat down at my desk and did some digging. This woman was receiving assistance under 3 different names at 3 different address'. The total sum of her income that the state was providing her? With food stamps, and cash grants, AND she claimed no husband in ANY of her homes, she received $1600. a month in food stamps, $2400+ in cash grants all going to 3 different address' under 3 different names. Now tell me defrauding the government by getting all the fake paperwork done on her children, wigs for her, drove a cadillac suv all maxed out to the ends with chrome rims, and all the extras.
The end result? I remembered her because of her lisp. Reported her for fraud, she was deported back to Mexico. But bilked all of us paying into the system @ $ 4,000 a month for at least 3 years until she was caught.
Still think they wont risk crossing over to have their baby in a US hospital? Think again. I caught a total of 20+ illegals in that same hospital doing the same thing over a span of 10.5 years. I am not a racist, but I am fuming at all the freebies we offer and that their culture is pushed down the throat of my children who are not hispanic of any kind in the schools. We have NO desire or NEED to learn a mexican language. My family came over from Ireland, worked hard for what they have without handouts, and left loving legacys. They didnt have things printed in their native tongue, they already spoke english because its taught in the schools in Ireland. Didnt expect everyone to celebrate our Irish holidays by forcing it down everyones throat, or force everyone to learn Irish in order to get a job here. The government didnt give them free money for college, college was free back then. The same is happening to every other race in the US. Its not fair that we have to speak a mexican language in order to get a job now.
I HAVE HAD ENOUGH! My
Hi, I've been fishing in a brook . Once I caught 10 baby fish.
I thought about going to Fl once. I hate the FL Gators. They're all mouth and no ears .
Hi, I've been fishing in a brook . Once I caught 10 baby fish.
I thought about going to Fl once. I hate the FL Gators. They're all mouth and no ears .
I bet she will have complications and because their hospitals are not at par with the U.S.A. with the latest technology and stuff... guess what? The Mexicans will be bringing her to Texas... they just have to get a chopper to cross into the U.S.A. and bingo, she will have her kids in here.. and they will be American born citizens... ain't life grand!!!
I just hope the Border Patrol, immigration, and the hospitals of this country grow a brain... but I doubt that very much... so I guess Texas will be putting the bill... and I hope I am wrong, but I doubt it very much... we will all see the outcome of this story soonl.
She is in a hospital in Mexico! How is she having them here? You see her, 8 months pregnant with 9 babies out-running border control?
If that was her plan, why would she go to a Mexican hosipital? Plus, who is to say she wants to come here? She could afford fertility treatments and apparently, good healthcare as the hospital has been able to keep all 9 babies alive this long.
And flying her here to have the babies? You really see that happening? She goes into labor, with 9 babies, and they have the time to make the arrangements, get the helecopter, get her to the us, and have the babies?
It is called "spanish"
Of ENGLISH?
Irish people celebrate Christian holidays-which were already being celebrated here. Other than that, St. Patty's Day?
As there is no language "Irish." Perhaps you meant Galic, which very few people coming from Ireland to the US actually spoke... Or perhaps you have NO idea what you are talking about.
Again, it is called "spanish" and you clearly must be unemployed as, if it is required to get a job, and I presume that-not knowing its name, you cannot speak it...
I am fine with people who disagree with my beliefs-but at least know what you are talking about first!
PDMinCA, thank you for your story. My grandparents came here legally, and no one in Cleveland was forced to learn Slovak, and celebrate Saint Cyril Day. Now, back to the headlines.............
@PDMinCa - I am a Hispanic woman (I am of Spanish/Cuban/French decent, NOT Mexican!) raised in the U.S.A. and I am as OUTRAGED as you are, trust me!
If she did somehow end up here, NBC wouldn't report it now that all these posters are blasting her.
I don't get it. It just seems selfish. If you're having trouble conceiving, why spend all that money on fertility treatments? Just adopt. This isn't good for the mother OR the babies. As someone else said, it's simply not natural.
Brooke and friends....what a great way to start a message post!
PDMinCA and Marie, I TOTALLY AGREE! It's outrageous that these people come over here to bilk us out of so much money. I'm glad you got her deported. Kudos to you. We need to close off free health care to illegals. Disgusting. Marie, I also agree. What's wrong with adoption, people? If people want a kid so bad, why couldn't they adopt? People are so egotistical "Well, the kid wouldn't REALLY be mine" it's b/s. Why a doctor would plant 9 more embryos after she's already had 4 is beyond me. I think I would have stopped at 2, maybe 3 max.
PDMinCA - Bravo! Great post.
People, please go back and read the entire article before you post such stupid comments that have absolutely nothing to do with what the article said. THE ARTICLE SAID SHE IS NOT PREGNANT. SHE HAS THREE CHILDREN AGES 15, 12, AND 4. SHE HAD AN OPERATION AFTER THE THIRD CHILD AND CANNOT GET PREGNANT. READ MORE THAN THE FIRST LINE NEXT TIME AND YOU WON'T COME ACROSS QUITE AS STUPID.
La - most of these comments were made prior to the update that debunked the story.
She can and will afford them when they are born on American soil. They will achieve "amigo" status and receive full benefits off of our welfare system.. And the far right (who pays no taxes) will welcome them. Watch and see...
The far right will welcome them??????????????
The state health care system here in Oregon is over run with Mexicans having babies. Any day you choose there are dozens of Mexican moms on the street, pregnant and pushing strollers with several kids in tow. My daughter is disabled and as an adult is on the Oregon Health system. Any time we take her to the doctor the waiting room is full of pregnant Mexican moms with at least 2 small kids with her. Benefits, like dental care are being cut to save money but the anchor moms and the anchor babies just keep coming. WAY TO GO ARIZONA !!!
Release the bigotry!
Thank you RamFla. Lord knows so much of it flow on these posts.
ok...we could not go two threads before somebody made this a Rep vs Dem thing....geeze! Can we just have a real discussion minus....the poly sci!
lili - it is the far LEFT who pay no taxes (47% of the income tax filers pay no tax, primarily because of EITC and the Child Tax Credit) and who will welcome them as new recipients of the vast welfare system.
I don't know why you guys are worried. who the hell would want to come here? The US is full of bigots and @!$%#s.
There are lots of "disabled" adults sucking off the government and the taxpayers when they would otherwise be able to do some sort of work. It's gotten epidemic and is as much of a problem as illegals getting benefits.
Where does it state that she wants to come to the US? That being said, I'm guessing that there are many US hospitals that would like bragging rights to this pregnancy!
@ Lillipop - I've always considered myself a liberal - but totally agree with your comments. Of course the border patrol may be looking out for her after the story breaks. LOL
@ AreYouBuyingThis - so Oregon has achieved California status. Sounds like the town I live in - everywhere are pregnant latinas pushing baby strollers and accompanied by several older children. While the mothers can't get welfare - the kids can - each of them is a paycheck and a SS # which can be used by older family members.
I'm so tired of this presumptive propaganda, Mr./Mrs./Miss "taxed." My husband and I are in the 1% and we pay a federal tax rate of roughly 30% on that income - which my husband EARNS at his high tech job (which he got with his excellent state university education). I was a stay-at-home mother, despite my own post-graduate education. And we are members of the Left.
I know other high-earners - and I do mean people who actually work for a living (who would have significantly less income if they did not work long, long hours and weekends) - who also vote Democrat. (If you actually EARN this kind of money, you work all the time. It's very stressful for them.)
We don't feel at all punitive about the 47% who pay no federal income tax because we understand that they're relatively poor. I had poor, rural grandparents on both sides; my husband's father was not an educated man - my husband made more than him right out of college. But they were all hard-working folk. VERY decent human beings. Excellent citizens. They just happened to not come from wealth-producing backgrounds: they HAD hogs rather than living high off the hog.
And I know a lot of young people with degrees - even science degrees, like Biology - that haven't been able to find a job in their field yet and are working low-paying jobs to make ends meet. They also don't pay federal income taxes, despite working.
So this stereotype - that all non-federal-income-tax-payers are welfare queens - is just propaganda. There are a lot of very good, hard-working people out there who aren't paying federal income taxes. And we're so glad we're not among them - we pay so much more in taxes than the average family even makes in a year - but we sympathize with them and don't want to make life more difficult for them. Why would we? We understand their situation.
Mandy, Not only that there are no jobs here.
Another true American idiot!!!!!!!
Go news for you. Even the Mexicans don't want to come over her any more. I don't even see day laborers around the home centers.
Thank you Metta. I do quite well and feel the same as you.
Metta Shanti, you sound like a true kind and generous soul with a generous heart, it is easy to forget that such folks exist. We have done well, better than our parents, and we come from humble beginning. We are far from being in the 1%, we are working Middle Class and we pay taxes. No kids. I don't begrudge the money I pay in taxes that helps those that are unemployed due to downsizing to China, children, unemployed grads. I draw the line at subsidies for Big Oil and Big Agriculture-let them pay their own way.
Metta World Shanti, thats the best comment I have seen in a long time.
Actually, the largest group in that 47% are those on social security.
Did she learn NOTHING from the OctoMom?
Yes, she learned that she will be "Nonomom"!
She learned EVERYTHING from the octo-idiot....she will never have to pay a dime!!
certainly NOT a Octo-idiot.........
only how earn more freebies for herself
As a republican evangelical Christian --- I am happy that she has not chosen to abort the babies --- many Americans are having multiple babies -- 4,5,6 --- because of fertility treatments --- some are aborted. Vote Romney! Vote Life! LIFE!
Which Romney are you voting for, the pro choice version, or the wing nut version.
I am going to vote for Romney because Obama is a complete train wreck. But I don't get why people get passionate about abortion. I understand your desire not to have one. And if someone were to force you or your woman to have one, I would understand. But if some woman in California wants to abort her baby, while you have every right to think she's making a mistake and that she's going to hell, her actions don't affect you at all. Why are you so concerned about what someone else is doing?
So George, are you going to offer this puppy mill of a lady money and help with child care for her precious darlings? No, I thought not.
It creates a culture of death --- when human life is not valued -- the death of civilization ensues. Romney is going to bring back the republican movement into the white house -- forget about what he personally believes although my understanding is that he is severely pro-life ( ;) ) --- but he will answer to the republican party--- it is the PARTY that will be in the driver seat that;s what's important. VOTE ROMNEY!
People are passionate about abortion because many feel that aborting a fetus is the same as taking a life. I believe people should be able to choose, but I would never want to have an abortion.
Viking, you nailed it. All the Right to Life folks that picket abortion clinics and hassle doctors that perform the procedure apparently have nothing better to do. If it doesn't affect you why would you care what other people do?
george, are you really that oblivious? why would a woman get fertility treatment so they can have a baby then abort it?
viking and wiley, a better question would be why do the pro lifers only care about that baby until it's born? they're willing to force people with little to no money to have the baby then basically tell them that they don't care if the parents don't have enough money to afford the child and that they shouldn't feel "entitled" to government money from our taxes. it's dumb cause if they ban abortion the same entity that these people are seeking money for their child from will be the one that forced them to have the child.
I am pro-life, but GOD's way, the natural way GOD intended for us to reproduce. This is mad science in my opinion. I'm not against fertility treatments, or even in-vetro, to help a woman have a baby of her own; but I think the number of implanted embryos should be limited to 2 or 3 at the most, to give the babies a better chance for survival and health. It's obvious this was done for publicity, why else would a doctor be so careless with human life.
George is an idiot..vote Romney? Are U serious! Let's see..he hates women rights, only cares about the rich and not the middle or lower class (said that himself), and will make sure the oil companies don't have to pay anymore taxes than they are now. I could keep going. Everyone blames Obama on the economy...look at all the other countries. Some of the other countries are in worse shape than the U.S. It's a worldwide problem, not just the United States. Btw, Spain was just downgraded by S&P last night.
I'm pro-choice myself (although I do believe there should be restrictions) but I understand the other position as well.
Pro-lifers get passionate about abortion because to them it's thesame thing as witnessing a genocide in progress and saying or doing nothing to stop it.
Think of it this way - If thousands of women began drowning unwanted newborns in their bathtubs and the law did nothing about it and they defended it as their "choice" wouldn't you expect that some people would get a little upset about that? I know that YOU don't think it's the same thing at all... but THEY do.
Get it now?
Of course she chose life - she had fertility treatments, in other words, she was unable to conceive in the traditional manner. She wanted to become pregnant, she would not have chosen to end her pregnancy. It is the fault of the doctor implanting too many embryos - making this a dangerous pregnancy for both mother and babies. Voting for Republican Mitt Romney will not change the outcome of this pregnancy or the medical complications, expenses and difficult life this mother and children will have. You are probably glad this mother is living in and will give birth in her native Mexico and not a burden on our society.
Yes..you republi-taliban folk are pro-life only up until the babies are born and when the mother files claims for food stamps and welfare...and child care...you respond with: No Way...fend for yourself...pay your taxes, and starve babies starve!!..your so compassionate!
I Vote VOTE vote that you get your head examined and your "baby factory" condemned. This poor planet can't take anymore mouthes to feed.
Gosh, George - I thought the President answered to the AMERICAN PEOPLE, not his political party. My bad.
Yes very much so, and I'm not even a republican.
“I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country; I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a U.S. Senate candidate,” he said then. “I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years, that we should sustain and support it.”
Mitt Romney, when running for Governor.
Some people would view selective termination when your carrying 9 babies as choosing life. While we hear stories about having 8 and then 9 babies, we don't hear about the very, very high pregnancy loss rates associated with multiples...particularly higher order multiples.
Why do they recommend tranfering 1 or 2 embryos? Because even twins increases your risk of loss of the pregnancy, preterm labor, and disablity to the child. This rate only goes much higher when some tried to carry 4 or more babies.
They are hoping for a due date of May 20th. I doubt that is the 40 week mark. It is more likely 30 or 32 weeks a typical due date goal for higher order multiples as it is often only 34-35 weeks for triplets. If she were to have the babies tomorrow or next week, what would be the outcome?
Annie, either you haven't been paying attention or you are only one year old.
annie, bush didn't asnwer to the american people. he answered to his party. the tables have turned now.
George, there are times when abortion is necessary and saying it's all wrong is not, in my opinion, a viable position to hold. You may hold that position, but I don't think it's right. Furthermore, a President of the United States should not be solely bound to his or her party alone. The President should govern for all his/her people. While that is an ideal, not reality, I would hope that Mr. Romney keeps that in mind, having been a Massachusetts Republican.
mr romney like every politician has his own ideals. he will govern based on those as those views are what got people to vote for him. if he got elected then apparently the people like those views more than do not like them and therefore he will be basing decisions on those views. no politician governs or will ever govern based on what everyone wants. they govern using their ideals. all the comments about what obama has done being tyranny and communism are bs. those are people who are confusing tyranny with losing an election and not having their views represented anymore.
Which of Romney's views Hatr? Every time he opens his mouth, the 'view' changes.
hatr - and therein lies the problem. Same thing I've been saying for months. It's not about the American people, we're not Americans. We're whatever silly hat we put on this morning - Republican, Democrat, conservative, liberal. Whatever. And the beat goes on.......
Great so now Mexicans are popping out nine at a time? That means in a few years nine times as many illegal aliens in the USA as we have today. Time to put troops along our Southern border!
the southern border is and always have been MEXICO!
Right......that's why all the illegal Mexicans are crossing the border.....to get to Mexico!
In all fairness, the Mexican child rate has gone down to 2.3 per family from a high of 7 about 50 years ago. Their education level has also gone up. Give them a break, will you?
George
How can you say all of that. This is what is SO wrong with this country. Glad she is having 9 babies. Holy Cow
Come on George
http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/26/opinion/passel-cohn-mexican-immigration/index.html
They no longer want to come in. So she has the kids here. She's illigal and gets sent back. She going to leave the kids for adoption? Fine. There's enough families looking to adopt.
For goodness sake! Its a frickin' VAGINA...NOT A CLOWN CAR!
Actually, it's a uterus. The vagina is the escape route.
Hopefully they all come out the front door.
Jenny
Now THAT was funny!
thank you, just thank you. This is the best comment I have ever read on the internet
Jenny...omg.....I LAUGHED OUT LOUD when I read your post. One of the best posts ever put up on a message board!!!
It is interesting to see people turn this into an ethnic or racial issue--- goes to show that the same people that say they are not racist about this or that indeed look everything through race. Blessed are the poor for they shall inherit the earth--- AND THEY WILL INHERIT THE EARTH --- the west is dying---low birth, abortion, etc---- who wins in the end?
It's "Blessed are the meek" isn't it?
My Dad always said; "There's no poverty under the bed sheets". It seems appropriate here.
Yes, Dynamik, it is the meek who shall inherit the earth. Meek doesn't mean poverty, George. It means gentle, mild, humble.
Was the Secret Service in Coahuila recently?
My dog just had nine puppies... she now eats like crazy and has udders like a cow... I feel for that poor woman...
LMAO.. LMAO.. Made me think about the jokes i would make while i was breastfeeding my kids..
That was HER choice, why feel sorry for her?
I'm guessing that they wanted one or two babies...not nine.
They had four children at home. They should have considered themselves blessed.
Now consider them stupid!
Oh my God! NINE babies?!? I can fully understand desiring to have a child, but this is ridiculous! What was the Dr thinking?!? I pray the children are born healthy and the mother as well. The medical profession must act ethically and not basely act for monetary gain only!!
With any luck (ours) she will lose them all................
That is a terrible thing to say, Areyoubuyingthis?
how would that affect us when she is in mexico AYBT? also, they haven't said anything about this that shows wany kind of unethical action by the doctor yet.
Are you serious Areyoubuyingthis? I am from Portland Oregon and you are the most bitter poster here.. Wishing death on her babies is disgusting.. There is something seriously mentally wrong with you, and you need some help for those irrational thoughts.
SHE IS IN MEXICO, it never said she was coming to the states, never said she was going to run the border, never said she wanted to be in the states. Good gawd delusional much, make up something and then you believe it full heartedly!
I don't think if she was planning on coming here she would be broadcasting it. It's a proven fact that many hispanics wait until they are really to deliver to sneak into the U.S. What might happen is the hospital there won't be able to treat her, so they'll allow her into the U.S to go to a more qualified Hospital. For compassionate reasons. Also for you that think she could get here if she really has money, she could bribe her way into the U.S.
You Libs crack me up, dems are the ones who are chained to the government and don't pay taxes. Most republicans aren't the ones not paying taxes, go to any social services office, and look at the number of minorities versus whites getting aid. I'm not a racist ,or a bigot, just stating facts. So just hold your typical liberal talking points, they get a little old and wrong. I believe people should be judged by their actions, not the color of their skin.
Just because you don't agree with someone you label them a racists or a bigot. Isn't the whole point of these comments to get different point of views? I've noticed a trend that if the Libs don't like what you say they just collapse it, and call people names. We should all be able to expression our opinions without name calling or shutting down something you don't like.
The racist part comes in when people see the word "Mexican" and automatically think "illegals."
Yes, there are Mexicans living in the US illegally, but one should be able to see that a person lives in Mexico without it automatically being about immigration. No where in the article did it say she wanted to come here. No where in the article did it say she planned to sneak in. If a US hospital does offer to deliver the babies, she would then be here legally. But no where in the article did it say that was in the works. Yet, 90% of the posts on here are about illegal immigration.
Of all of the conversations that could be had on this topic-IVF, selective abortions...this board is focused on immigration.
She is in the hospital now. She is apparently getting good care as they have kept her 9 babies alive for all this time. Yes, some women wait until the last minute to come here, but considering she is on strict bed rest with 9 babies in her, I find it difficult to imagine she plans to outrun border patrol.
Plus, she was able to afford fertility treatments and health care-so it seems as though she is financially stable.
I have found that the most racist comments made are those preceeded by, "I am not racist."
Us Libs? Why do YOU people always have to turn an article in to politics or race.
As uchusky99 put it; she is on bed rest, if she is having issues and or bed-rest , I highly doubt she is going to jump the fence, or walk the desert, or ride in a trunk..
But it's okay make the assumption because your psychic and can tell us what the future holds based on assumptions. Throw a fit when she does instead of making us look at your theatrics and bs political crap. No wait go join your friend in wishing death on her babies because they might or might not be born in the states..
LOL i bet it burns your hide when I say I am married to a mexican
Kinda hard to have 9 babies in the states when the story was debunked, the article must have just updated because she isn't pregnant at all.. LOL
Blows the whole theory of having 9 babies in the states..
Reports that a Mexican woman is pregnant with nine babies are not true, according to El Diario de Coahuila, the local newspaper in the town were the woman lives.
Women were not meant to have litters like dogs. Planting two embryos to better the odds of a pregnancy occuring is one thing, but nine? That's ridiculous.
No where in the article did it state that they did IVF and implanted 9 embryos. It could have have an oral pill like clomid and unmonitored relations. That is how Kate got her 6. Clomid is available over the counter in Mexico so people can dose themselves without oversite. Let's wait for the facts in this case.
And she is naming them food stamp, green card etc etc !
dont forget the name free ride...
Actually the headline is incorrect. The woman is pregnant with nine fetus' , not nine baby's . I thought she was pregnant and already had nine children that were previously born.
Considering she's due to give birth next month means they're viable, therefor they're babies.
Considering she isn't even pregnant, your comments just sound bigoted.
Holy ElNineYo!...whose turn will it be to get up in the middle of the night....when the orchestra plays in unison.
So if 8 is an octo, what is a 9 besides too many kids..lol?
A private nurse sent from social services...no way this woman is having these kids in mehico...not when she can sneak across the border and get the freebies from this anti American government.
Hopefully somebody will reach out to them without exploiting them. That Octomom drama and Kate baby daddy incident was a mess...I dont wish that on anybody.
Maybe an abortion doc will offer their services....wouldn't that be nice??
You wrong ...capt america....lol!
Actually a woman with 9 fetus's due in May which is next monty can't get out of bed much less cross the border.........evidently you did not read the entire story. She is being treated in a hospital in Saltillo. Where or where does all this hate and rage come from in the white male population.
No, hate and rage is totally non-discriminatory. It is the perfect accessory for: all sexes, male, female, and other; all races: black, white, brown, yellow, red and plaids; all political views: right, left, middle, and confused; all states of mind: stable, unstable, and -less; all body types, anorexic to OMG. So you see, there is enough room for everyone under the white, pointed hood. Maybe we just need to change the color from white to rainbow.
In Tijuana, Mexico IVF treatment can cost as low as 5K, in the USA it's at least 15K per treatment. Many American women "cross the border" for cheaper treatment. It sounds like this woman may be financially well off by Mexican standards.
Isn'tTHATSpecial - To answer your actual question, I think in the article it said "nono" for nine, so she'd be the Nonomom - kind of ironic. No! No!
And AreYouBuyingThis - Go crawl back under that slimy rock of yours. You're disgusting. The babies are due in less than a month. Hello!
Wow...the Nonomom........that is quite Ironic and has an even better than octo ring to it...lol!
Read the article. There are no babies.
I always wanted 5 children. wheew! I could have them all at once and then lose my weight fast! haha
Karla Vanessa Perez stay the hell out of the U.S.A.
"Ohhh she lives in Mexico! Lets assume she wants to come to the US because we're racist!"
People like you make me be ashamed to live in the US sometimes.
Keep her in Mexico. If she sneaks over the border we'll own nine more bambinos.
"bambinos" I believe, is Italian...this litter would be known as "taco tumblers" or "burrito busters."...:p
Her name of "Perez" suggests that she has Jewish ancestry, so the Jew baiters can attack her, too.
The hate and bigotry on this comment thread is making me ill. I don't agree with what this woman has done, or with what her doctor did. But wow. The level of hate just makes me sad.
Welcome to America Daisy
Daisy, you are so right!
Of all of the topics this could bring up-IVF, selective abortion...people see "Mexican" and 90% of the comments are about illegal immigration.
The one acceptable racism left. It is wrong to hate mexicans-but it is fine to hate illegals.
But, this article has nothing to do with anyone trying to come here. It is just about a mexican woman...yet the hate is flying!
This is wrong. I hope she survives it - a woman isn't meant to give birth to nine babies at once. I hope the babies survive, too, with no serious birth defects. This is so wrong.
I am sure she will be flown across the border for expert medical care and neonatal intensive care units for the babies "Just Watch" then the whole family will be let in under humantarian visa
from Oregon. guess we will see when the birth rate in Texas goes up. but I agree, that she will sneak over and get our goodies.
Mexhicanos, please come over and bankrupt our hospitals, we won't need them.
Please keep that woman south of the border, as I am so sick and tired of hearing about all these multiple pregnancies. Doctor's should be shot for this, as their is no reason for it. Wonder what the Catholic church has to say on this one, as the woman that just wanted one was fired for trying invetro. Sad state of affairs when the church can tell you how you can conceive, and then that you can't prevent it. Also, we don't need her here collecting welfare money either. Let her government support here, better yet, how about the husband!!!!
What a horrible scum of a racist human being you are.
Not every single person who lives in Mexico is dying to sneak into the US and use welfare. You have absolutely NO idea what her financial situation is (but fertility treatment isn't free, so I'm guessing she does alright) Its bad enough to hate on illegal aliens here, but to hate on entire country of Mexican citizens who haven't done one damn thing to you?
Chelle, I am sorry, but the illegal immigrants have done terrible things to the American working class, which is why we true liberals oppose them.
Sure, illegal immigrants. But THIS WOMAN, who everyone is hating on for coming here to have her baby and receive welfare... which she HASN'T DONE, is being lamblasted!!! Maybe she will, maybe she won't. But SHE HAS NOT! And there is so much HATE. That is what Chelle is reacting to. And you reacted to it above Cassandra. I don't like ILLEGAL immigrants coming and taking jobs, healthcare, etc... either. But THIS PERSON hasn't done any of that and people here are crucifying her for being Mexican!
Without question, the Catholic Church is one of the most anti American institutions that have helped sell out the United States on the issue of illegal immigration. Any church that helps illegal immigrants deserves to go out of business. With the child sex abuse scandals going on, I hope and pray that the Catholic Church goes bankrupt for eternity.
I'm guessing this is your first visit to newsvine, Daisy?
Exactly right-but don't forget how many have included the phrase, "I'm not racist...." right before they spew their hatred.
She must have gotten a bad batch of chili con carne!
Wasn't this an episode on The Simpsons?
If there is ever doubt as to who is the weaker sex, men should just think about having nine lives growing inside them and then exiting a narrow shute. That should end that discussion fairly quickly, doncha think? Seriously, though, nine is too much and just multiplies the risk that some or even all of the children will have a less than optimal quality of life. The first job of a parent is to protect the child and the oath of a physician is first do no harm. I think in this case and the case of octomom, all of them failed miserably.
You really think she's going to shoot them out her vagina?
She'll have a C-section. And even if she didn't, if she had 9 babies, they would all be tiny at birth. Not a typical 8lb baby, more like 4 lbs. 4lbs is easier to shove through a vagina than 8 lbs.
Even 4lbs is wishful thinking. These babies will likely all be closer to 1lb, which gives them a very high likelihood of having birth defects, developmental delays, cerebral palsy, and a host of other unpleasant and costly problems.
tiny so they can be passed through boarder fences.......
